Tosca
Tango Orchestra
The quartet joined forces with Glover Gill in 1997 to form the Austin-based
Tosca Tango Orchestra. This popular group performs original compositions
in the nuevo tango style and has released six albums. Among these is
the soundtrack to Richard Linklater’s Waking Life, which amassed
an international following for the band. A trip to Buenos Aires in 2000
brought them critical acclaim when they were featured artists at the
5th World Tango Summit. In 2003, the Tosca Tango Orchestra performed
and recorded the Ballet Austin premiere of choreographer Stephen Mills’ Touch.
In addition, the quartet appears with Gill in Glovertango, an ensemble
dedicated to performing Glover’s arrangements of classic tangos.
Members of Glovertango also include pianist Justin Sherburn and bassist
Chris Maresh.
